Commitment, Ingenuity & Transparency
These core values shape our design services and the way we work. Our solutions are always tailored to fit your needs and budget, no matter the size of the project.
Our design process:
Stage 1: Ideation & Information Gathering:
In our first meeting the objective is to learn about you, your goals / visions for the project, as well as, your style preferences.
This first stage involves gathering information as a foundation to begin our working relationship.
It involves delving into functional requirements for your space: storage, lighting, appliances, furniture, etc.
We discuss scope of work, an estimated budget, timelines, and determine whether any third party contractors/trades people are needed for the project.
We will also do an audit of your existing space, and if needed, take measurements to draft a new plan.
We will then provide a comprehensive quote for our design services for your review.
Stage 2: Concept & Space Planning:
This next stage involves putting ideas to paper. Synthesizing the information gathered and sketching out ideas to meet the requirements.
Space planning: the drafting out of a floor plan based on space requirements, code compliance and necessary adjacencies. A well designed plan considers proximity ergonomics and anthropometrics - the distance between objects in the interior environment that is most efficient or comfortable for the person.
We source materials, finishes, furniture, equipment, appliances, lighting and gather budgetary numbers for the selections.
Our clients benefit directly from our trade discounts as a value added service.
If required, we will also source contractors and other allied professionals to request quotes.
Material finish board/mood boards are created to help visualize the look and feel of the overall concept.
Once we have completed the preliminary designs/concepts, floor plans, as well as gathered all quotes, we will meet to review the initial design, plans and quotes to get an idea of projected costs.
Upon approval, the project proceeds to Design Development.
Stage 3: Design Development:
This is the stage where the design for the space is further refined and developed.
The floor plan is tweaked to ensure it meets your needs for function, practicality and comfort.
Final selections of materials and finishes: flooring, countertops, wall tiles, paint, etc.
The criteria for the selections are always based on your vision, the suitability of the product for the end use and your budget.
Perspective renderings can be produced to further help visualize the final product.
We meet to review the overall concept, final plan and the finish selections. We will also review the budget and timelines.
Stage 4: Construction Documents:
Once the plan and finishes are approved, we proceed with preparation of final construction drawings. These technical drawings: plans, elevations sections, detail drawings, as well as material specifications are what is required to build.
